Christmas Activities

This week in T3. We are working on Christmas Activities, as it is getting really close to Christmas. Miss Power had created a google website, she posted some videos of how to make christmas cards. Also, she put some facts about the meaning of Christmas, christmas treats and crafts that you can give to a family member or even a friend.  Do you enjoy Christmas? What is your thing, you want for Christmas this Year? 

Miss Power has also shared us a slide for our Christmas Activities too. And what is really great about that... she has put a christmas wish list for us. We have to come up of some Ideas on what we want for Christmas. 

High School Transitioning

High School Transitioning

On Wednesday some of the Year 8's and me, got to go to Grey High School, to have a visit and a look around before going to high school in 2019. We met up with Miss Moynahen.. and she discussed some of the stuff we were about to do when we were their for the transitioning. I think, it was interesting because you actually got to have a look around and see what it was like when you go to High School, in 2019. I'm a little nervous to go to Grey High, but I think I will be alright. 👍👌😊

Country Study

Country Study

This week in T3, we are starting to do Country Study. Miss Power & Miss Hines have assigned us country's to study on. Mine was Chile, although I actually wanted to study on Spain. Because Spain has been a country I have wanted to study on for ages. The good thing about studying on Spain is that, you get to learn their languages and it is very easy to learn. I'am finding this easy to do because this gives me a really good chance in life to know a lot about countries. Have you ever done country study before? If so, what country would you like to do? I have created a slide presentation on my Country Study, on Chile. 

Athletics Day

Yesterday afternoon we went to Anzac Park to do Athletics. It started at 2:00 in the afternoon and we had to get into the age group, we were in. I was in the 13 year old girls, group. Then we had to wait a little bit for the other kids to come, because we had the whole school coming down. By the time all the kids arrived it was my time to shine... I said to myself, ''I'm going to give it all my best. It was time to go to our first activity. First activity was shot-put. I did alright, although I need a bit more practise. Our second was 60 metre sprints? Sadly, I came last.... but that's not all. Then our second one was fun games and we had to get into groups, of 2 and we had the 2 legged race. It was fun, but I nearly fell over because I had my buddy Rikki. And I have to say it was pretty funny. Then we did discus... and I have to say I got it right. Then...... 100 metre sprints. I say to myself... I'm not going to get 1st. Or I'm just going to come last. I got into my lane, and Mr B had the starter gun. BANG! I went as fast as I could ever be. When we got to the end... I came 3rd in the 100 metre race. 

I think I did really well in all the activities. 😀 

My Tapa Design

This week for Ca lender Art, we are still doing our Tapa Design. There are some people that have not finished there Tapa Art. I have finished drawing my Tapa Design. Here is a picture of Tapa Design.

I could of tried a little harder with it. But it is my first time doing Tapa Design. And I think it looks amazing. What do you think? 

PrEP

This week for PrEP in our class, we are starting to make our  PrEP products. My group's name is the Jars & Crafts. We are making a game called Mancala. We are also planning to make Jars, pencil holders aswel. I'm looking forward to the mini market held in the hall, (if it rains) but if it doesn't rain then it's highly likely that the mini market will be outside, like it was last year. There's a few things we are not allowed to make that is.... slime, food, stress balls and squishes. We have to create something that the kids will actually buy, and maybe interested in. 

It's going to be so much fun! 

Tapa Design

This week for Art, we are focusing on ''Tapa'' If your wondering what ''Tapa'' means it's bark cloth, or Tapa is not a woven material, but made from bark that has been softened through a process of soaking and beating. The inner bark is taken from several types of trees and shrubs, often ''Mulberry and fig, or light brown, red and black. Here are some picture of ''Tapa'' 

Were going to make our own Tapa too. 

In class, Miss Power gave us some sheets of different Tapa designs we could do. I chose the easy one. I think I need to practise a little more. But I think I've done well. 

Recycling Essential- Caitlyn

This week in T3 we have been working on Recycling Essential. I have created a doc on explaining some of the reasons why we should NOT use plastic bags for shopping. Here is a reason why we should never use plastic bags. I think using plastic bags is only going to effect the sea life at sea. Because people throw the rubbish into the sea, and some people don't realise what it's doing to the sea life. Maybe, oneday there might not be any fish or other sea life in the sea anymore. And that might mean that people won't be able to go fishing to catch some fish. Do you want beautiful New Zealand to be clean green, with no rubbish around New Zealand?

Tye Dying- Arts Soiree

Tie Dying

This week I have been busy, doing my Tie Dying. I have chosen colours for my Tie Dye T-shirt... those colours are... dark purple, light blue, light green. Here is a picture of my Tie Dye T-shirt. 

This was my first time doing a Tie Dye T-shirt. It was pretty fun, because you got to choose the colors. I found it pretty easy to do, I reckon next time I think I should do it colourful. I think it would look AMAZING! Also, I have been doing a slide presentation about Tie Dying. I don't think it relates to school work...but it has something to do with Tye Dying. I hope you like it!

Using Short Division

This week in class for maths we are working on using short division. If you don't know what short division means....I have created a slide presentation to demonstrate what ''Short Division'' means. I found short division a little tricky but, I think if I try a little harder then I should get it right. Here is my slide presentation on demonstrating using short division. 

Argument Writing- Do you think Recycling is essential?

This week we are focusing on Argument Writing. For our argument writing, we are focusing on ''Is Recycling Essential? We had to research on Recycling, I searched up some facts about Recycling and came up with....

1. Half a million trees have to be cut down just to produce the Sunday newspapers each week.

Do you think Recycling is Essential? I totally agree, because it would be great if people ended up using paper bags, even. That would be a lot better, because then it wouldn't be such a bad idea after all.

Arahura Marae

On Tuesday, my class and Te Hiringa went to the Arahura Marae. I enjoyed going to the Marae because I have never been there before and it was a awesome experience. My class and Te Hiringa did our Mihis to introduce ourselves in front of the people that own the Marae.  We had delicious food, e.g savouries and cake. Also, the people there were very kind and spoke with kindness. It was such an honor to have a visit at the Arahura Marae.

Technology- Grey High School

This week at Technology, I have been working on Be Funky. This website is about creating backgrounds using Digital Technologies. I found this website easy to do because when I was creating my background there was a lot to choose from. And it was fun to do too. Marae Visit

This week we are focusing on our Mihi. Because we are going to the Arahura Marae on 21st August 2018. There is a lot of fun things to do there, I have not been there. But I believe that it will be really fun. We also have to do our Mihi to introduce ourselves. I'm pretty nervous to do my Mihi in front of people, but I think I'll be fine. Have you ever been to a Marae before? What kind of things have you done there? Did you do your Mihi? 

We will be having some food there such as savouries and cakes, and then a bit later we have some fruits. Yum. Bye for now......

This week we are focusing on Argument Writing. I have been writing about why should animals not be in circuses? 

I think they should be in there natural habitat because then they would be a lot safer rather than getting hurt every now and then. They lose their dignity, and they are getting hurt.

Maths

This week for Maths, we are focusing on find how many combinations there are. Miss Power gave us a question to answer. We had to find out what the answer was, it was a bit tricky because I was a bit confused at the start but I think I will get it right next time if we work on it again. 

Topic

This week for Topic we are focusing on PrEP, PrEP is not too far away, and I'm creating some ideas on a slide presentation for what people might want to make. I'm thinking about going to other classes to help them out. Such as the little kids classes, like Rata or Pohutukawa maybe. Here is my Ideas

I would love to make slime, but we are not allowed to make it because it cost a bit to buy the ingredients.
